Our sessional psychiatrist runs a clinic one day a week (Thursdays). His/her primary role is to consult with primary care providers (physicians/nurse practitioners) for diagnostic clarification and for medication adjustments. They also work closely with our social workers to enhance our Mental Health Program.

Our registered nurses (RN) triage, assess, treat, and monitor patients with acute and chronic illness in partnership with the primary care providers; they focus on health promotion, disease prevention and chronic disease management (ex. immunizations, contraceptive education, smoking cessation counseling, etc.). Our Diabetes Nurse Educators (Registered Nurse) educate patients on diabetes management and prevention, diabetes medications, diabetes complications, blood pressure targets, cholesterol targets, glucose targets and the use of glucose monitors.
Our registered dietitian (RD) provides nutrition counseling to promote health, to prevent disease and to assist in chronic disease management. She provides nutrition expertise for patients with hypertension, patients wishing to reduce their weight, patients needing elevated cholesterol counselling and eating disorders. Our Diabetes Dietitians educate patients on diabetes management and prevention, physical activity and healthy nutrition (e.g. fiber, glycemic index, carbohydrate goals, carbohydrate counting, heart healthy diet, low sodium diet, weight control, weight loss, lowering triglycerides) and the use of glucose monitors.

Our physician assistant (PA) works in collaboration with primary care physicians to provide quality care with a degree of autonomy, negotiated and agreed on by the supervising physician(s).
