We realize there is a lot of confusion regarding the rollout of the Covid vaccine. The information available seems to be changing daily. Here is what we know right now.
We are NOT yet receiving Astra Zeneca Covid vaccine in our offices at Taddle Creek FHT. Because Astra Zeneca has not been approved for people 65 years and older, it will be offered to 60-64 year olds in pharmacies and some family physician offices as part of a pilot program. For a list of pharmacies offering vaccines please check https://covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations
80+ year old patients have several paths to book appointments to receive their vaccine.
1.) https://vaccineto.ca/landing with 13 sites available for pre-registration which are run by various Toronto hospitals and health teams
2.) http://toronto.ca/COVID-19 will open on March 12th for appointments starting on March 17th at 3 mass vaccination sites: the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Scarborough Town Centre and the Toronto Congress Centre
3.) COvaxON web-based portal and call centre will be operational starting on March 15th with appointments starting on March 22nd
Please be assured that we will let you know if we have any vaccine and if you are eligible to receive it from us.
And please take the first vaccine offered to you. They are all amazingly effective at preventing severe disease, hospitalization and death.
Be well,
Your Taddle Creek Family Health Team
