Description: This workshop is for participants who have difficulty either falling asleep, staying asleep or experience non-restorative sleep for more than 1 month. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the treatment of choice for chronic insomnia. CBT helps participants learn how their thoughts and beliefs about sleep, as well as their behaviours and emotions all interact with each other in maintaining insomnia. The program is based on Colleen Carney’s (PhD and author) book “Quiet your Mind and Get to Sleep”.
Learning Objectives:
Length: 5 weekly Zoom Healthcare sessions (2 hours per session) with 2 one-on-one appts. with either a Registered Social Worker or Pharmacist.
Group Leaders: Registered Social Worker and Pharmacist
Group Size: 5 – 6
Referral: Primary Care Provider to refer to Mental Health Program
Special Note: This workshop may not be appropriate for individuals with untreated or inadequately treated sleep apnea. Participants will be asked to track their sleep and complete sleep diaries.
