Psychotherapy (individual)

Psychotherapy services are only for patients of Taddle Creek Family Health Team (TC FHT). Psychotherapy at Taddle Creek is provided by Registered Social Workers and aims to help individuals navigate life challenges and improve their wellbeing. Our social workers take time to get to know who you are and how you are, work with you to identify your goals, and offer skills and strategies to help you achieve them. People seek out therapy for all kinds of reasons, including but not limited to:

  • challenging life events
  • mood and anxiety challenges
  • relationship difficulties
  • self-criticism
  • experiences of trauma
  • stress management
  • caregiver stress/burnout

Our social workers offer short-term, free therapy (7 sessions) and a referral from your TC FHT primary care provider is required. If you’re interested in accessing psychotherapy, please book an appointment to speak with your primary care provider and ask for a referral. Once you’ve been referred, you will need to call or visit our office to activate your referral. At that time, you will be placed on the waiting list and given an estimate of when you can expect to be seen. When a social worker is available to see you, you will be contacted to schedule your initial appointment.

Unfortunately, TC FHT is unable to offer long-term psychotherapy and a cycle of care is limited to 7 sessions. Our team has three full-time and one part-time social workers servicing a population in excess of 20,000 patients. These sessions limits are in place so we can provide care to as many patients as possible and limit our waiting times.
