Let’s Get Moving

Description: Learn more about the health benefits of physical activity and exercise. Attend 10 free fitness classes at the Miles Nadal JCC (Spadina and Bloor)

*After registering for this group, you will receive a checklist about your health to complete. We require you to discuss any concerns you may have about your participation in this group with your primary care provider.

Learning Objectives:

  • The difference between physical activity and exercise
  • Health benefits of having a more active lifestyle
  • The three types of physical activities and how often/how long to do them
  • Common barriers and solutions to becoming more active

Length: The first class (information session) and last class (follow up session) at the Diabetes Education Program are 2-hours long. The fitness classes are 1-hour long.

Group Leads: Diabetes Nurse Educator, Diabetes Dietitian

Group Size: Maximum of 8 (family members are welcome to attend the information session, however, the exercise portion is for Diabetes Education Program clients only).
